Statewide Spring Open House

Statewide Freemasonry Open House
Saturday, April 6th, 2013 (9AM to 3PM)
(All 7 Lodges in the 23rd District)

The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, 186 Tremont Street, Boston, will join with 233 lodges throughout the state and host an Open House to help the public gain a better understanding of the fraternity, its history, and why Freemasonry has been the common denominator of so many great men throughout our country’s history.

Join with the officers of your Lodge and be on hand to share your experiences as a Freemason with the visitors.  Invite all who may have ever inquired about the Freemasons to your lodge and let them see and learn first hand what the Freemason are all about.  Invite those men and their ladies who may know nothing about the Freemason's to come learn about the world's largest fraternity. Expose them to the good men of your lodge and their works and the value Freemasonry brings to the local community and to this great country.

Share our rich history!  It is one we all can be proud of!
Let them know good men can be part of it.

New 23rd District Website

Launch of the new Massachusetts 23rd District Masonic Website
a.k.a.
Massachusetts 23rd Masonic Almanac

The purpose of this site is to provide a central location to communicate the Masonic activities in and around Central Massachusetts. We gather together to take the opportunity to enjoy the lost art fellowship. We remind each other that an active life is a well lived life.

The 7 lodges of the 23rd District will each contribute to the almanac events recorded here.   Some events are for members only. Other events are open and the public is encouraged to attend. We hope to provide readers with a vibrant site updated regularly with announcements of new events and posts in PDF format of recently held events.

Our 23rd District Calendar will provide basic listings and a reader can you the search bar in the upper left of the screen to find more detailed information if it was posted by the Lodge Communication Officer.   We will also provide a Mobile Edition for smart phone readers and a RSS Feed to keep up to date with the most recent posting.

This site is your site.  Want more support for your lodge events for fellowship, charity and fun. Let your Lodge Communications Officers know about Masonic related events that may be of interest to other Lodges and be sure they get posted in the 23rd District Calendar and a news item posted here.  Event flyers should be provided in PDF format and they will be attached to the news items.  We hope you enjoy our efforts.  Be sure to share this site with others.

Grand Lodge Listening Tour

GRAND LODGE LISTENING TOUR - Worcester January 29th, 2013

Following last year's successful "Grand Lodge Listening Tour", M.W. Bro. Richard J. Stewart will again be meeting Massachusetts Freemasons on the level in town hall-style meetings.
The focus of this year's Listening Tour is "Massachusetts Freemasonry 2033: our Fraternity in 20 Years".
As the Craft rapidly approaches its 300th anniversary in the western hemisphere, the work we do today shall shape the landscape of the Fraternity in the years to come, it is important to discuss the opportunities and challenges we face moving forward.
We can only begin to plan for what we want our fraternity to look like when we celebrate our 300th anniversary by opening the floor for discussion with the membership base that will propel us forward to that moment.
These meetings are free and open to all Massachusetts Freemasons, regardless of degree, but registration is requested.  We will have 9 regional meetings to give every Mason an opportunity to participate in the discussion.  Attire for the events will be coat and tie; aprons and jewels will not be worn.
The general agenda for each meeting will be:
    6:30 p.m. - Welcome / Introduction
    6:35 p.m. - Grand Master’s Opening Remarks
    6:45 p.m. - Presentation
    7:00 p.m. - Open the floor
    9:00 p.m. - Collation
Please register at MassMasons.org.  An accurate count of participants will reduce the cost of these meetings.  Brothers not registered in advance will still be welcome if space is available.  To give everyone a chance to participate, please register for only one Town Hall location.

New DDGM Installed

Bradford White of Shrewsbury Installed as District Masonic Officer

BOSTON, MA – H. Bradford White of Shrewsbury, MA was installed a District Deputy Grand Master (or District Deputy) of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts, and will preside over seven lodges in the Twenty-Third Masonic District for the year.

The 232 lodges and 35,000 Freemasons in the Commonwealth are divided into 32 Districts, and each are led by a District Deputy Grand Master.

The Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts is the oldest Grand Lodge in the Western Hemisphere and the third oldest in the world. It was chartered in 1733, following the establishment of the Grand Lodge of England in 1717, and Ireland in 1725.

In 2013 the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts will celebrate its 280th Anniversary. A Grand Lodge is the governing body that ensures the activities of the lodges and members comply with its Constitutions and Regulations; it also maintains the uniformity of the centuries-old initiation ceremony candidates experience when they become members.

As a District Deputy Grand Master, White serves as the Grand Master’s personal representative to the lodges in the District. Richard J. Stewart of Shrewsbury, MA was installed for the third and final of his three one-year terms as the 87th Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts and the head of the fraternity.
